Signs of spring, risk of infection, the three commons

Like everyone else, I look for signs of spring when the snow melts: dog shit and used condoms on urban lawns, ‘everything must clear’ signs on chocolate Santa stocks, unsolicited flashes of sickly flesh, manly smells emanating from open garage doors, people saying ‘The spring has sprung,’ etc.

It’s not until face covering, meaning mouth and nose, has been made mandatory that I have realised what my vulnerabilities are – I live in fear of catching a nasty cocktail of the imbecility, pig-headedness and bloody-mindedness viruses by just exchanging looks in the street.

What do common sense, common courtesy and respect for the common good have in common? A belief by some one must be a Marxist sympathizer to embrace all three of them at the same time.
